Civil Engineering

Innovation and rapid development are the motors of the construction business. In consequence construction always functions as a pacemaker of human cultural development. Today’s increased technological and ecological requirements, growing competition and mounting time pressure lead towards enormous complexity in the design and realisation of buildings and structures. Pure “professional” knowledge does not suffice any longer and economic, strategic and organisational know-how is demanded in order to meet the requirements of forward-looking civil engineers. For the efficient and successful realisation of major construction projects, professionals possessing a sound technical background and a practically focussed education are needed. These qualities are rounded off with a broad knowledge of state of the art management methods. The master course continues the education gained in the bachelor study “Civil Engineering” and will prepare students optimally for a leadership position within the wide-ranging fields of the construction business. A successful graduation allows a fast career entry on the foundation of a highly practical training. The master program offers two specialisations: “Project Management” and “Design und Construction”.

Study focus

The master course continues the education gained in the bachelor study “Civil Engineering” and will prepare students optimally for a leadership position within the wide-ranging fields of the construction business. A successful graduation allows a fast career entry on the foundation of a highly practical training. The master program offers two specializations:

Project Management Specialization
The emphasis of the Project Management specialization is the development of management qualifications for the construction industry. Besides the core subjects comprising technical knowledge and the development of social competence, courses in law, economics and construction operations are included.

Design and Construction Specialization
This specialization comprises both a focus on design and modeling as well as on the calculation and planned realization of structures in construction and infrastructure engineering. The inclusion of design in the education forms the foundation for the involvement of the engineer (structural designer) in the construction design process.
