Since its formation, Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS) has developed into a unique institution in Carinthia. Through constant further development of the degree programs at CUAS and intensive cooperation with the worlds of business and science, those studying at the university can be certain of a forward-looking education with its finger on the pulse of time.
CUAS lives the vision of direct practical experience. Full- and part-time lectures, as well as guest speakers from industry and business ensure an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented education. Currently, around 40 degree programs are offered in the fields of engineering, business, healthcare as well as social issues.

Sponsored by the Austrian federal, regional and local government, CUAS has no tuition fees. However, each student is obliged to pay the Austrian National Union Student fee (EUR 15.86/semester in the academic year 2008/09).
Research and Development
Research and Development are distinct qualitative aspects of tertiary education. Amongst others, they raise the academic profile of the university and promote the institution’s image as a dynamic and innovative organization. By focusing on applied research and development, Carinthia University
of Applied Sciences offers the region easy access to research facilities. More importantly however, the resulting technology transfer joins cooperation partners, academic staff and students in a mutually nourishing process of increasing scientific qualification and, in particular, fostering the education of our master students.
Due to the intensive cooperation with local and international companies, our students gain great insight into practical working life.
CUAS has a network of over 160 international partner universities, which guarantees the exchange of students and lecturers from all over the world.
The master degree programs taught in English open the doors to applicants from all over the world.
In 2007/08 alone the number of international students comprised almost 20 % of the total number of students. The most international FH-site is Villach.
Its unique geographical location with the neighboring countries of Slovenia and Italy makes Carinthia a multicultural region. You can hear three different languages and experience three different cultures in just one day.
Moreover CUAS International Office organizes additional social and cultural events where local and international students have the opportunity to meet and get to know one another better.
