The Master's programme teaches you design and technological skills. The conception and realisation of historical, cultural-historical and scientific exhibitions as well as the design of art exhibitions are the focus of the course.
Focal points
Exhibition theory. Exhibition direction.
You will learn about historical and current developments in the museum and exhibition sector as well as trends and methods in exhibition conception and design. You will also delve into the dramaturgical structure of an exhibition and deal with the contextualisation of objects, object-text relationships and object-text staging.
Presentation. Model making. Digital media.
On the one hand, you will visualise exhibition concepts with the help of model making or sketches. You will be taught the principles of object presentation according to various criteria such as aesthetics, didactics and illustration. On the other hand, you will work on the construction and visualisation of virtual spaces and objects in a practical way.
Design. Lighting design. Scenography.
You will look at the use of light in exhibitions, for example to effectively set the scene for objects. You will familiarise yourself in detail with various environments and performances for the experimental, creative use of space. You will also focus on the use of multimedia: from film and video projections, audio concepts and animations to interactive installations.
