The master's program Smart Products & Solutions addresses the basic questions of how a company moves from the old to the new product world: "How can we make our products smart?", "Which business models will be most successful?", "How can the digitization of products and systems best be managed?"

DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF SMART PRODUCTS

Smart products consist of hardware and software. They integrate mechanics with sensor technology, computer science, and actuator technology. To equip students with the skills necessary to develop them, the program covers simulation and modelling methods, design aspects, as well as how to ensure product quality and how to assess risk. In order to be successful with the products in the long term, suitable methods of requirements elicitation as well as the development of a product strategy and a suitable business model are also necessary.

GENERATING VALUE FROM PRODUCT DATA

The smart products are networked via appropriate connections and transmission protocols. The transmitted data is analyzed and graphically displayed and can provide important information to both the customer and the company. By using machine learning and AI-based algorithms, more and more decisions can be automated. The necessary knowledge for this is part of the course.
