The Master’s programme in Social Work focuses on sustainable solutions to societal and individual problems and teaches students how to provide professional psychosocial support. Following an introductory phase tailored to your prior experience, you will expand your theoretical knowledge and practical skills in one of the two elective modules: ‘Social Work and Social Transformation’ or ‘Social Management and Social Transformation’.

In the specialisation ‘Social Work and Social Transformation’, you will focus more closely on all areas of traditional social work. In addition, you will work on innovative projects designed to actively and effectively address current social issues such as rising social inequality, the risk of poverty and increased migration. Work with the dialogue group takes centre stage. Throughout your studies, you will reflect on your professional thinking and practice against the backdrop of international values and the latest insights and requirements of social work.
In the ‘Social Management’ specialisation, you will focus on socio-political and economic issues. Key topics such as the management of social organisations, law, sustainable entrepreneurship, quality development and human resource management will equip you for demanding roles in the management of social institutions.
Research project and Master’s thesis:
A central component of the programme is your research project. Courses on social research methods will prepare you for your Master’s thesis.
