Career opportunities

Qualified nurses work in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, in mobile home nursing and in retirement and nursing homes:

  • Outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, day-care facilities
  • Mobile palliative team, mobile paediatric and adolescent care
  • health resorts and sanatoriums,
  • Further training and specialisations possible: practice management, wound management, complementary care, anaesthesia and intensive care, dialysis care, etc.

Funding and employment model

With the Nursing Training Purpose Grant Act (PAusbZG), the federal government offers the federal states the opportunity to make training programmes in the nursing sector more attractive in order to attract more people to the nursing profession. People who do not receive benefits from the AMS to secure their livelihood receive a monthly training contribution/subsidy of € 600 as part of their training. The grant is exempt from all federal taxes and social security contributions and does not count as income.
In addition, students have the opportunity to be employed by a Burgenland health care organisation during their studies and thus be fully insured for three years. The gross monthly salary in this case is €600 (14 times a year).
