You will apply innovative techniques in molecular biology, mass spectrometry, gene & nanotechnology and bioinformatics and develop comprehensive skills in quality assurance and validation of methods. In the third semester, you can choose an in-depth focus area to carry out even more application projects.
Mass spectrometry. Chromatography
In this focus area, you will deal theoretically and practically with the latest applications of mass spectrometric systems, special ionisation techniques and techniques for quantification and quality assurance. You will also acquire application-orientated skills in areas such as chromatographic separation methods and proteomics.
Molecular analytics
Molecular diagnostics and gene therapy are specialist areas in this specialisation. You will research and improve analytical methods in molecular biology, focusing on applications in current molecular diagnostics and the production of recombinant proteins. You will also focus on biomarkers, genetic engineering, stem cells and gene therapy.
Bioinformatics
Bioinformatics is the basis for experimental design and scientific analysis. You will learn how to use bioinformatics tools and familiarise yourself with multivariate statistical methods and important evaluation tools in order to identify complex relationships and recognise influencing parameters, for example in the field of applied OMICs technologies.
Project and master's thesis
In project work and in the Master's thesis, you can further deepen your knowledge and - with the support of experts - expand your research skills.
