Double Master's degree for business administration students

A new Consecutive Master's Degree Programme has recently been launched at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (FH Salzburg) in cooperation with the South African University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein. Business students with a focus on finance can graduate from both universities and earn 2 master's degrees.

Su-Mari Dreyer and Frans Benecke have been studying business administration at the FH Salzburg since February 2023. The two South Africans came to Austria as part of the Consecutive Master's Degree Programme to study International Finance from both a European and African perspective for 2 semesters. They are currently working on a student study project that deals with financial education among Austrian and South African students.

Positive balance

Su-Mari and Frans are already enthusiastic about their time at the FH Salzburg. They were warmly welcomed by teachers and students and both feel very much at home at the university. They appreciate the open and dynamic atmosphere during their studies and the opportunity to get to know different cultures and gain international experience. The year in Salzburg gives both of them the unique opportunity to develop personally and academically.

About the programme

The Consecutive Master's Degree Programme is a cooperation between the FH Salzburg and the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein. Master's students from both universities study at the UFS as well as at the FH Salzburg and complete a double Master's degree in Business Administration. "The cooperation is intended to develop the students' skills in the context of two different cultures. Graduates will be prepared for the challenges of a global world characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and disruption", says Martina Sageder, Head of the Business & Tourism Department at UAS Salzburg.

The programme was initiated by Johan Coetzee from the Department of Economics and Finance at UFS and Christine Mitter, Head of the academic area Accounting & Financial Management at FH Salzburg. Both universities have a long-standing partnership and the cooperation will be further deepened in the future through the joint programme.
